National Trails Day, which takes place Saturday, June 1, is a coordinated, multi-state event that celebrates America’s natural beauty and seeks to connect more people with the hiking trails in their area. If you’re a lover of the outdoors, consider joining other Greenville volunteers for a day of trash clean up and trail maintenance at the beautiful River Park North, located at 100 Mumford Road.
The event begins at 8:00 am and lasts until 10:00 am. Volunteers are asked to spend at least one hour picking up trash, clearing debris, and removing invasive plants from the park’s hiking trails. In exchange for your labor, you’ll receive a free pass for a 30-minute pedal boat rental or free admission to the nature center.
This is a great way for Greenville residents to give back to their community and help protect the environment of North Carolina. If you plan to attend, be sure to wear long pants and bring your own water and gloves. For more information about the clean up, call (252) 329-4560
